Vermund Larsen’s design philosophy

Vermund Larsen took a unique approach to furniture design, always focusing on the interplay between aesthetics and ergonomics. To him, a piece of furniture was never just an object— it was a complete experience, where form and function had to work in perfect harmony. His designs from the 1950s and ’60s reflect this philosophy and continue to form the foundation of our furniture today.

Ergonomics at the core since the beginning

Vermund Larsen was a pioneer in ergonomic design. His deep understanding of how the body moves and works remains the foundation of our chairs today. Every element is carefully considered to provide a seating experience that supports the body and ensures long-lasting comfort, whether at the meeting table or the workstation.

Designed to accommodate different bodies

What is comfort, really? For us, it is about how a chair meets the body: it should support, give space and allow movement – whether you are small, tall or somewhere in between.

All our chairs are designed with human diversity in mind, so they suit a wide range of body shapes and sizes. This is reflected in every detail – for example, on the VL118, the armrests, back and seat are shaped to adapt to many different body types, including those who need a little extra room. The armrests are placed at the waist rather than the hips, so thighs and hips can always rest freely. The backrest’s shape allows for the body’s natural curves, and the open seat construction ensures there is nothing to press or restrict.

We believe that aesthetics and functionality go hand in hand. When comfort feels natural and freedom of movement is preserved, the result is a seating experience that works – for everyone.
