- In case of spillage, re-dry as soon as possible
- To protect your table surfaces from hot and / or humid objects and scratches from e.g. ceramics, you should use coasters or felt.
- Clothing with rivets, buttons, and belt buckles can cause scratches in the upholstery and varnished/oiled surfaces
- Use a nozzle with a soft brush at medium suction power when vacuuming the furniture
- We recommend mild and neutral cleaning products. Never use abrasive products, scouring cream, polishes, or products containing ammonia or bleach

Wood
Wood is a natural material where the wood grains, wood knots, and colour shades are part of the expression. This shapes the expression of the chair and makes this piece of furniture unique and more beautiful over time.
Note: If you place this piece of furniture in direct sunlight or up a heat source, it will dry out/bleach the wood.
Oiled surfaces
Cleaning
Wipe the wooden surface with a damp lint-free cloth and wipe with a dry cloth. For dirt or stains, you can use pH-neutral cleaning/dishwashing detergent. Always remember to dry as described above.
Maintenance
For ongoing maintenance of the wood, you can use oil. This will maintain the glow of the wood, make the surface less susceptible to dirt, and make care and maintenance easier.
Use a furniture oil in nature for wooden surfaces in walnut, natural oak, and smoked oak. Use a white pigmented furniture oil for white oiled oak. It is important to clean the wood and wait until the wood is dry before applying oil (about two hours). Use a lint-free cloth to “iron” the oil on the wood along the wood grains in an evenly distributed layer. Let the oil sit for 3-5 minutes and then wipe with a dry lint-free cloth. The wood should dry for approximately one day before using the furniture again. Oil takes about seven days to harden. You can use oil treatment 2-3 times a year as needed.
NOTE. Oilcloths can self-ignite! Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for safe use.
You can remove small scratches on the wood surface with sandpaper. First, clean the wooden surface as described above. Only sand the surface in the direction of the wood grains using fine sandpaper (grain 240). Clean the wood again, and apply a furniture oil to close the surface. To maintain a uniform surface, it is important to oil the entire wood item.
Varnished/painted surfaces
Cleaning
Wipe the wooden surface with a damp lint-free cloth and wipe with a dry cloth. For dirt or stains, you can use pH-neutral cleaning/dishwashing detergent. Always remember to dry as described above.
Never use abrasive products or sandpaper on a lacquered surface as this may damage it. A damaged lacquered surface is not possible to repair yourself.
Do not use oil on a varnished / painted surface.
Upholstered surfaces
All upholstery types from VERMUND is highly abrasion-resistant. It meet all requirements and needs for use in private homes and on the contract market.
Note: If you place your furniture in direct sunlight or up a heat source, this will dry out/bleach the leather or textile.
Leather
Leather is a natural product and depending on the type of leather chosen, there will be visible traces of the life that the animal has had. This underlines the unique character and it will eventually get patina and appear even more beautiful. VERMUND offers furniture in both corrected, semi-aniline, and aniline leather from Danish quality suppliers.
Cleaning
To preserve the appearance and tactile beauty of the leather, we recommend regular vacuuming of the furniture, preferably every week. Always use a nozzle with a soft brush at medium suction power.
If you spill liquids, it is important to absorb the liquid and dry it as soon as possible with a clean, dry cloth – avoid softening the leather. Do not expose the leather to sharp objects.
If stains appear on the leather, remove it as soon as possible. Only use foam from soap flakes for cleaning – never detergents, ammonia, oils, polishes, varnishes, etc.
Instructions: Whisk 1/2 decilitre soap flakes in one litre of hot water. When it reaches room temperature, apply the foam to the entire leather with a soft cloth. Only use foam and avoid softening the leather. Once the leather is dry, polish it with a soft, dry cotton cloth. Do not rub hard on the leather as it may discolour or damage the leather.
Tekstile
Cleaning
To preserve the beautiful colour and appearance of the textile, we recommend regular vacuuming of the furniture, preferably every week. Always use a nozzle with a soft brush at medium suction power.
It is important to remove stains as soon as possible – before it penetrates the fibres. You can remove most stains with lukewarm water, possibly with the addition of a pH-neutral cleaning/dishwashing detergent – avoid softening the fabric as it can damage it. Always use a clean, white cotton cloth and use only small amounts of detergent at a time. Avoid rubbing hard on the upholstery as it may result in discoloration or damage to the fabric. Instead, press the cloth against the area to absorb moisture and impurities. Repeat the process until the impurity is gone. For the last wash, use clean water without detergent.
Steel frame
Most furniture from VERMUND has a steel frame with a resistant surface of powder coating, chrome, or satin chrome, which makes them easy to maintain.
Cleaning
Wipe the surface with a damp lint-free cloth and wipe with a dry cloth. For dirt or stains, you can use pH-neutral cleaning/dishwashing detergent. Always remember to dry as described above.
For stubborn grease stains, wipe the infected area with a solution of isopropyl alcohol. After degreasing, clean the product as described above.
Never use abrasive products on powder-coated or chromed steel as this will damage the surface and cause discoloration.
Linoleum
Linoleum is an organic product made from natural materials that, like wood and leather, become more beautiful over time. The material is biodegradable and does not harm the environment when disposed of.
Cleaning
Wipe the surface with a damp lint-free cloth – use a pH-neutral cleaning/dishwashing detergent if necessary. Always wipe with a clean, dry cloth. To avoid stains and discoloration, wipe the surface as soon as possible if spillage occurs.
Maintenance
Use linoleum care for ongoing maintenance of the surface. Always clean the surface before this treatment and wipe with a dry cloth. Read product instructions before using linoleum care.
Wheels
At VERMUND, we use wheels made for hard floors, such as wood and tile.
Cleaning
Wipe the surface with a damp lint-free cloth and wipe with a dry cloth. For dirt or stains, you can use pH-neutral cleaning/dishwashing detergent. Always remember to dry as described above.
Maintenance
Keep the wheel tracks around the hub clean of hair, dirt, and fibres to maintain the mobility of the wheel. Remove these impurities with a tweezer or a small pair of pliers.
