At VERMUND, sustainability is a natural part of who we are. We bring together design, function and responsible production with a clear focus on eco-friendly materials, local manufacturing and long-lasting quality.
Timeless design with the future in mind
Local production built to last
Our furniture is crafted here in Aalborg using materials sourced mainly from local and Danish suppliers. Each chair is designed for longevity and can easily be upgraded with new upholstery or serviced with replacement parts – reducing waste and extending its lifespan.
CSR and sustainability
We use Factlines Supply Chain Compliance to evaluate our supply chains and trace the origin of our raw materials and components. With a life cycle assessment (LCA) of our products, we work systematically to minimise environmental impact throughout the entire process.
We use sustainable materials
All our wood is FSC-certified, and we primarily work with OEKO-TEX-certified textiles – including recycled fabrics, an apple-based leather alternative, and textiles made from 100% ocean-bound plastic. We focus on reducing waste and chemical use, so we use both Nordic Swan Ecolabelled textiles and OEKO-TEX-certified foam that can be recycled.
Material made from recycled apple waste
Leap is a vegan-certified next-generation material offering an innovative, eco-friendly alternative to traditional leather. Made from by-products of juice and cider production, it contains 91% bio-based content and is certified by the USDA. Leap combines sustainability, durability and refined aesthetics – all with minimal environmental impact.
Its hard-wearing surface and backing made from premium Tencel fabric ensure long-lasting quality and exceptional comfort. With a Martindale of 140,000, this groundbreaking material, designed in Denmark, sets a new standard for sustainable design.
The Vision series – our most sustainable choice
The Vision series is for those who value both sustainability and quality. It represents our most environmentally conscious selection of materials and textiles. A timeless design made for the modern workplace, with responsibility for both the environment and the future.
100% recycled ocean-bound plastic
Our Vision series now features Kvadrat Sport, the world’s first textile made entirely from 100% ocean-bound plastic. Plastic waste is collected along coastlines and islands in Thailand, preventing it from reaching the ocean. For every kilo of plastic gathered near the sea, 1.92 metres of sustainable, high-quality fabric is produced.
Kvadrat Sport embodies everything the Vision series stands for: a harmonious fusion of aesthetics, functionality and environmental responsibility. With this innovative textile, you get an elegant design and a solution that actively helps reduce pollution and protect our planet.
Danish craftsmanship with care
At VERMUND, all our furniture is produced locally at our facilities in Aalborg. This ensures not only exceptional quality but also close collaboration with local suppliers and shorter transport routes, helping us reduce our environmental footprint.
Our furniture is built to last for years and can easily be updated with replacement parts or reupholstered in new fabric or leather, so you don’t have to replace the entire chair.
We are certified according to ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management and ISO 9001:2015 for quality management. In addition, our furniture is approved following DS/EN 15372, DS/EN 16139 and DS/EN 1335.
Crafted in-house with precision and care
At VERMUND, all upholstery production takes place in our own factory in Aalborg. Here, our skilled team creates the backrest and seat for every chair, from the first cut of fabric and the application of foam to the careful stitching and final finish.
We combine classic furniture craftsmanship with modern technology to improve precision, reduce waste and ease the most physically demanding tasks. Intelligent machines handle the heavy lifting and precise cutting, allowing our upholsterers to work safely and focus on what truly requires experience, craftsmanship, and an eye for detail.

Our upholstery production is designed with the same care and attention that we put into our furniture. An advanced system calculates how each fabric can be used most efficiently, minimising waste without compromising on quality.
Everything is done under our own roof, and every process is carefully monitored and quality-assured, from the first measurements to the final hand-finished detail.
